Often, such rigidity proves detrimental to enterprise and small business owners alike. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">It is normal for any decision-maker to feel agitated when faced with volatile market conditions. It is a multitude of events, with a domino effect, that can prevent us from seeing things from the right perspective. The pandemic started a similar chain reaction and continues to play a leading role in how we do business across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">If left unchecked, business challenges can snowball into issues that have no simple solution. Like most growing businesses around the world, our organization was challenged by the pandemic as well-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Our incomes had diminished.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>In-person team interactions had stopped; affecting timelines &amp; deliverables.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Performance numbers were sliding.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>IT and communication errors increased.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Everyone had to put in extra effort to deliver results.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>All people, processes &amp; interactions had to move to a fully virtual space.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">OEMs and other businesses faced a few additional and unique challenges such as-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Breaks in the supply chain<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Breaks in the distribution chain<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Regulatory roadblocks due to the pandemic<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Added costs like safety regulations and IT hardware investments<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">In the current scenario, building business resilience with an agile mindset is key to overcoming these challenges. Businesses need to adapt, and quickly so that they can bounce back and perform as earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:41px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:41px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-what-does-business-resilience-mean\">What does \u2018Business Resilience\u2019 mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">To define resilience in business, you need to dig deeper into its context as it means different things for different people. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/science\/ecological-resilience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Ecology<\/a>, we can define resilience as \u2018the ability of a system to continue functioning amid and recover from a disturbance.\u2019 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apa.org\/topics\/resilience\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Psychology<\/a>, resilience is defined as \u2018the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">In <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.oup.com\/2016\/04\/defining-resilience-ptsd-psychology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Physics<\/a>, it is \u2018the ability of metals to absorb energy and return to their normal state after the energy was unloaded.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">For a business, we can define <a href=\"https:\/\/kylas.io\/motivation\/build-resilience-and-sales-motivation-kylas-crm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">business resilience<\/a> as \u2018the ability to bounce back from an adverse situation. You take your lessons from the situation and move on to achieve your goals.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"ub-styled-box ub-notification-box\" id=\"ub-styled-box-eba6f03f-298f-4623-b3a8-264053427bb2\">\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><em>For example,<\/em> the most common sales model was heavily dependent on face-to-face interactions. With the pandemic and rising safety concerns, in-person selling has become redundant.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">What does a business do in this case? What are the options? Will remote-selling work? What do they need in terms of technology and business expertise for remote selling?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">In other words, businesses must deal with crises by adapting seamlessly to current market situations and grow in the process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-the-road-to-building-business-resilience-actionable-approaches\">The Road to Building Business Resilience &#8211; Actionable Approaches<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">These words don\u2019t mean much without actionable approaches or guidelines that can help organizations get out of the rut. We can surmise that only a selected few may come out shining on the other side. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">Experts suggest that the numbers may go as low as 1 out of 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">As the proud owner of a growing business, I wanted Kylas to be a part of that 10%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-vivid-cyan-blue-color has-text-color has-medium-font-size wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-so-here-s-what-we-did\">So, here\u2019s what we did:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">First, we categorized the challenges in the following so we could stay on a clear path to business resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Business Performance &amp; Finance<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Employee Productivity<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Process Agility<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Rework Business Process Continuity<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><li>Enabling an Agile Mindset<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">Categorizing the challenges helped us prioritize our goals and the respective functions tackled each goal effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"ub-styled-box ub-notification-box\" id=\"ub-styled-box-71c4ff96-4ec5-4939-9aa5-ba6d3fac16f7\">\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><em>For ex<\/em>ample: After a thorough discussion with the leadership team and gathering inputs, we figured that the &#8216;people&#8217; &amp; \u2018communication\u2019 related challenges would be championed by the HR team. More on that later.<\/p>\n\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">We then divided each category into sub-categories, identified action points, the department(s) in charge of taking the action, and practical strategies that could work best for the business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">We further divided focus into smaller parts and each focus was furnished with strategies for problem-solving. This was what our business resilience plan looked like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-1-business-performance-amp-finance\">1. Business Performance &amp; Finance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-2-employee-productivity\">2. Employee Productivity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-3-process-agility\">3. Create a New Business Continuity (or Contingency) Plan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">Business Continuity Planning or BCP is a well-founded strategy that is implemented when the business finds itself in a crisis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">For those who have never created one for their business before or those who want to create a new one, BCPs can help best protect your people, customers, and enable business continuity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-5-enabling-an-agile-mindset\">5. Enabling an Agile Mindset<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">The fifth category is the most important in the list because it is fundamental to institutionalizing business resilience as a part of the culture. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">By enabling an <a href=\"https:\/\/kylas.io\/sales-effectiveness\/agile-mindset-small-business-growth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">agile mindset <\/span><\/a>across the business, the entire organization knows what the primary goals are and how to work collaboratively to reach there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\" id=\"htoc-but-what-is-an-agile-mindset-and-why-is-it-important\" style=\"font-size:22px;line-height:1.6\">But what is an \u2018agile mindset\u2019 and why is it important?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default\"><p>\u201cThe Agile mindset reflects ways of thinking that have developed over time. It is a certain cast of mind that emphasizes some things over others. It should continue to grow and evolve. It reflects attitudes and viewpoints that tend to endure. Over time, it leads to people being seen as having a certain makeup or character.
